Re: PHBL

The 40 slide can be easily converted leaner by material removal from the lower edge. I cannot remember the difference but it might be 1.0 mm, so please check. Converting a 50 to a 40 can be done but it is not so easy. However, if anybody remembers the scarcity of VHB slides in any other size than a ...

Re: Carb experimentation, cold start issues.

It's a 24 mm UMA PWK copy. Piston ported 185 SR that's been cleaned up. I checked the jets and it had a 40 pilot and 100 main. Changed the pilot to 32 and it started first kick. So hopefully some progress but let's see, it's started first kick for a while in the past.... Sent from my SM-G985F using...

Re: Carb experimentation, cold start issues.

Sorry very long delay in replying, was travelling a lot and haven't had time to work on the scoot which has been following its very erratic behaviour. I'll post the full carb setup in the next couple of days. In the meantime was going to ask is this https://www.miniriders.com/threads/keihin-pwk-cop...

Re: Using Timing TDC Tool

The problem with finding TDC is that there is a large angular movement for very little movement even with a DTI (Dial Test Indicator) axially in line with the bore. The phenomenon is referred to as 'dwell' & even though I have the kit which I use with central plug heads or, with head off, a spec...

Re: Side casing Hot

It's very difficult to analyse a lot of the issues that come up on Forums such as this. Often, the only effective cure is to dismantle fully & re-assemble to the best of your ability & the knowledge available. Honestly, I can say that of all the engines that I have worked on, that apart from...

Re: Carb experimentation, cold start issues.

My thoughts have just been prompted by the other active Post on this forum: https://www.scooterotica.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41411&sid=781db5c56e0121a607066137f41d6ef7 I'd personally persevere with the PWK, but although they are great carburettors, they rely entirely on the Lambretta OEM type ...

Re: Drive chain

Whatever the reasoning behind the belief that IWIS is the best, you will find no documented justification. For example. Type into your search engine something like: strength comparisons of 3/8" duplex chain The reason that there is no 'best chain' is because the construction is fundamentally th...

Re: lambretta pathfinders

Dealers into creating their own specials used to modify the 'non-key-ignition' type rocker switch internally & fit that (with the appropriate throttle support) running through the keyed ignition switch. I may still have one somewhere, but finding it..... It was a P J Oakley modification. ...

Re: Winter upgrade

Ball park figures for PWK pilots are 32 for piston ported, even though inlet timings have not been excessive. That's one of the advantages of 'stroking' the Rapido &, by the sounds of it, the Avanti. The reed valve TS 70 x 60 had a pilot size 50 which indicates that the reeds prevent the shuffli...

This is the kind of volume elbow that I believe to be necessary: https://www.flickr.com/photos/151604592@N05/51706829613/in/dateposted-public/ BTW. The drainage vent in the elbow had been fitted when this elbow was used on Dell'Orto carburettors. It had wire wool as a breathable plug toward the bot...
