Could that piston be dodgy? Machined incorrectly? i.e not as elliptical as it should be. Might be interesting to throw a micrometer across it.

A lad I know had a similar leak caused by a small crack in the casing allowing it to leak through the lower left hand side stud. He cured it by using studlock as you've suggested. I'm not sure how great a repair that is in the long term but It'd certainly get you going. :? Sounds likely in this sit...

Maybe the compression ratio is too high?
Do you know the combustion chamber volume?

If I'm not mistaken he does a long stroke (60 mm) version as well.wack 63 wrote:The packer is used with a standard stroke to raise the port timings
