Re: Seize! Will I need to reline barrell?

If you're cheap like me you might be able to run it after cleaning up the mess on the barrel walls and piston (I can only assume the piston took a good smearing as well) plus a new set of rings. As long as the marks/gouges are localized to only a couple of spots, are below the top of the exhaust por...

Re: fitting exhaust gas probe

I’ve been told the way that a lot of racers choose the position of their probe is to use some cheap BBQ spray paint on the header and go for a fast ride. The spot where the paint starts to burn/blister first is where you want to position your probe as that’s the hottest part of the header.

Re: Knocking Noise Related to Clutch

Have you taken the clutch cover off to see if there are any telltale signs of the clutch bell or bottom plate rubbing/knocking on the ribs on the inside? With some clutches you need to grind the ribs down a bit to make sure there is clearance. Also make sure the clutch is seated fully on the crank a...

Re: fitting a fuel pump to stock fitting carb

With the fuel line disconnected from the carb, what’s the fuel flow difference between a full tank and half a tank? I know most Lambretta folks quote “a pint of fuel a minute” is what you should see from a fast flow tap. There really shouldn’t be much of a difference between full and half a tank. Wh...

Re: Sip 2 or me big box much better than Sito plus ?

If I were in your position I would put the SITO on for now and wait until BGM brings out a 200 version of their new Big Box that is geared towards non-touring set ups (more revs). They've just announced the small block version so a 200 shouldn't be far behind: http://blog.scooter-center.com/vespa-au...

Re: Quattrini Build....

Hey, check out BGM's new Big Box Sport pipe. It's the street racer/non touring version of their Big Box pipe. They tested it on a LML reed motor with an 24mm Si carb and a unmodified Quattrini running a 60 mm crank. Seems like a pretty good match with this kit, other than the mild dip in torque arou...

Re: Vespa Mazzachelli Race Crank - Stroke ?

Pop the head off (takes less than 5 minutes on a large frame) and measure the distance between BTC and TDC. I take it you didn't build the motor? Does it run OK and have proper squish (1-1.5mm)? Does it have a cylinder packing plate and/or a thicker than normal head gasket? If so it's a good indicat...
