This torque issue reminds me one question I have; why do people use exotic conversions with Kawa / Honda / KTM motocross engines rather than Montesa, Beta, Gas Gas = Trial motorbikes, with loooooads of low down torque ? If you want to go for torque, I would advise you to look for info on Trial engin...

fred, you say a TS1 piston weighs 336 grams.. was that WITH piston rings,gudgeon pin ,clips and maybe small end bearing...? Are you James May? Well… I used to work with Jason Dawe (Top Gear 2002), that is how close I will ever be from James May, probably…! Did you know you could polish dampers as well?? http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/1abd20b9fe.jpg lighter and cheaper than chrome... lasts 3 to 4 days depend...

Thank you for your numerous feedbacks. What sort of smoothness should we achieve on areas submitted to air / fuel mixture ? Should it be P240, P400, P600? I know some of the fresh mixture must get “trapped” on the transfer walls, and the rest of the mixture is supposed to flow over that layer.. ...

I tried to search various ways of improving a piston on the forum, but I was not too succesful. So far I have always smoothed egdes on the pistons I used; none ever broke (maybe I did not try hard enough!). Could someone post some advice and probably nice pics of what can be done to a TS1 Asso pisto...
