What are the symptoms of a worn or damaged cruciform on a Vespa gearbox?
Can it cause difficulty in changing gear?

On Italian machines no. They were usually close (ish) but not the same.
On Spanish machines they did match.

This is usually caused by poor routing of the cable. Look closely at how it's been done.
Also avoid cable tying onto the steering tube above the horn bracket area. As ties up high pull the cable(s) out. They need to have some free twisting movement.

First try a new plug ( I doubt you'll be that lucky) :lol: If that doesn't work? Remove the green wire that runs from the stator ignition winding to the coil, from the coil. Hold the wire close to the engine and kick it over. You should see a spark.

Green is usually reserved for the ignition. Therefore should never come in contact with any other circuit.
It would seem whoever wired this machine has not followed that convention.
Is it 6V original/6V electronic/12V electronic conversion?

The photo showing your measurement isn't clear, but I think you've fixed the top brackets too high. They are usually 10-12mm below the spot weld that holds the internal stop washer. Not that telling you this helps your predicament :) Your choices are; To have the brackets repositioned and destroy yo...
