Once finally resolved if you do belt it about then fit the 8 or the 9.

For easier starting fit the 7.
Fitting the 8 or 9 won't make a difference to starting; if anything it will be harder. Do NOT waste your money.

I am surprised you believe an online filter to be "obligatory". My experience of them has not been good. I've just stripped my carb after 1000 miles and not a speck. I have stripped filters out of Lambretta fuel lines that had starting issues after taking advice from others. You might just...

I don't use choke with easy start.
I.don't like inline filters as most are for pumped systems and you will have trouble starting.

Never open the throttle when starting because it will flood.
If you fit a tea strainer filter you may have to up your jetting.

I use a throttle outer and inner and a rotating 90 degree bend. I make the cable really quite long and take past the carb and back again. Trial and error and soldering nipple on choke lever end. I personally found that all the standard sizes do not sit fair and square in the choke adjuster.
