When fitting the standard rim you can actually change over to standard M8 nuts (nyloc or other) but that would mean carrying the extra nuts around with you. What is handy is handy about this is that you can use one of the fairly common plug spanners that has a 13mm socket size built into the handle element of the body, which being long and hollow is then long enough to go over the additional length of the stud, whereas a standard socket will bottom out before the nut is tight.

8mm i.d. and a 10mm socket, wow, that's a thin nut.
That's not going anywhere...

Martin, so are these a 12mm socket size as opposed to 13mm?

I don't have SIP rims, I have AFR. I'd be interested if these Kart nuts would fit AFR ones?

Hi Paul, they're 8mm thread but have a small head that needs a 10mm socket, worth using a deep socket when used with Sip studs on a split rim spare. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't work on the AF rims as well as Sip.

8mm i.d with a 10mm socket is a thin walled nut. Wow.
That's not going anywhere...
