Hi Storkfoot, don't mean to state the obvious but have you read the pdf file on Mikuni Carbs at the head of this subject page. It's quite good publication and explains quite a bit, not only on Mikuni carbs but also carburettor workings.

Alright Worcester, I've got a somewhat similar set up on the Jet apart from the fact that mines a PM pipe with no filter. I know the no filter issue will obviously have to be taken into account but the pipes (as I have read, roughly come into the same bracket) but at the moment I'm waiting for a del...
