I bought one of the pillion seat ones because the riders ones looked to wide but then it depends on your seat size (both of them ;) Mine fits the seat well and the straps hold it in place.

That one fits Mr. G's seat very well.

Air Hawk air pads are what you want they are excellent. I normally get numb after about 35-40 miles :( but with my Air Hawk I rode from Lincoln to Whitby and back in a day with not problems :D :D .

Never any experience on vespas but the but I would normally expect the starter to be earthed all the time even when turning. You should the earthing continuity and make sure all earth contacts are good.
